Friday faves – My favorite places to buy knit fabric

My last post was a tutorial on how to make your own baby leggings, SO I thought it very fitting today to share with you some of my favorite places to buy knit fabric online! I get asked this question often. I love my serger and sew primarily with knits. They are the perfect fabric for all things baby. I love to make stretchy, soft little leggings, swaddles, hats, and headbands.

When I started my Etsy shop about 4 years ago, it was a challenge to scour the internet for unique and pretty knit fabric, especially if you didn’t want to pay a fortune. Over the last few years I’ve been so excited to find more and more larger online stores carrying a variety of unique and adorable knits.

With all of that said, here goes my top 5 online shops to find knit fabric!

fabric.com – This is a go to for me for solid knits and any other sewing staples. I’ve been excited to find their selection of knits is majorly growing! I especially love Art Gallery and Birch Organics. All of the pretty fabrics below I bought here!

Girl Charlee – Girl Charlee is ALL ABOUT knits and I love it! They have amazing prices and good quality knits. I’ve found their cotton/lycra blend knits to have the perfect amount of stretch for baby goods like the little shorts and hoodie tank below. Look at those squishy little legs, btw!

Etsy – There are so many good Etsy shops to find fun and unique knits! I love supporting small shops and try to look here before purchasing elsewhere. A few of my favorite shops on Etsy to find fabric including knits are Bobbie Lou Fabric and Finch Sewing Studio.

Fabric Worm – Fabric worm has a great selection of organic knits including Birch Organics, which I love for my baby items because it’s thick, soft, and still has a nice stretch.

Spoonflower – If you are looking for something especially unique OR have some design skills, you will LOVE Spoonflower! Spoonflower is a marketplace of independent designers. Similar to Etsy, designers create their own shop with all sorts of different patterns and prints for purchase. Most prints are available in any fabric type including jersey knit and organic cotton knit. I create some of my own prints on Spoonflower here.

Happy sewing my friends!
