The course that helped me kickstart my surface pattern design business!
I have always loved to create. At a young age I began drawing and to this day still have notebooks full of sketches from my Seventeen magazines. I have a degree in Communications/Advertising and taught myself Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop almost 15 years ago to complement my degree. I’m still learning every day!
I have three kids ages 11, 9 and 6. When my oldest was a toddler I opened an Etsy shop and made all kinds of baby accessories as my creative outlet while caring for littles. I realized after 8 years of sewing morning and night, that my true passion was in the fabric. I recently shut the doors of my Etsy shop and am now fully focused on surface pattern design!
When my focus shifted to becoming a surface pattern designer full time, I had about a million and one questions and was quickly becoming overwhelmed. I knew that I could create surface designs, but really lacked any knowledge of the industry and felt like an imposter as far as my Illustrator skills went. I began searching out resources to learn about the industry and business and came across Bonnie Christine’s Immersion Course! By the end of the 8 week course, I had created my very first fabric collection, created a brand and logo, had my website up and running AND within a few weeks afterwards I had so much excitement and momentum that I finished putting together my first first portfolio of work! Bonnie also creates a beautiful community of artists and a support system that is like no other. I completed the course over a year ago and still feel like the community is cheering me on and supporting me. Needless to say, this course was the push that I needed to accomplish all of these big goals!
